Weill Cornell to Build Prototype Laboratory in Long Island City

New York, 06/02/2010 - Kalmon Dolgin Affiliates has arranged a 10,500 square foot lease for Weill Cornell Medical College at the Falchi Building located at 31-00 47th Avenue in Long Island City, Queens.

The college is building a major new biomedical research facility on East 69th Street and they leased space int he Falchi Building to design, build and create "prototype" lab facilities for use in this new bio research building. They will build the prototypes at the Falchi Building and have doctors, administrators and board members come to inspect and evaluate the prototypes labs.

Josh Dolgin, vice president of Kalmon Dolgin Affiliates, made the announcement. Jeffrey Unger of Kalmon Dolgin Affiliates represented the owner in the transaction. John Adams of John L. Adams Associates represented the tenant.

"Weill Cornell Medical College was attracted to the Falchi Building because of its very close proximity to their planned bio-medical research facility in Manhattan via bridge and tunnel, as well as the great public transportation access," said Unger.

"They were also attracted by the buildings 24/7 access and security, as well as the private indoor parking available to tenants and their guests".

The Falchi Bulding is a mixed-use complex, with redesigned office, professional, showroom, R & D, manufacturing and flex space.

Acquired by Kalmon Dolgin Affiliates in 2005, the five-story, 632,000 sq.ft. building is in the heart of one of New Yorks historical industrial and manufacturing districts and features high-capacity loading docks, eight freight elevators, two large passenger elevators and on-site parking.

Following a multi-million dollar capital improvement effort by Kalmon Dolgin, the property has become a desirable industrial, commercial and manufacturing business addresses.
