Kalmon Dolgin, Esq.

Kalmon Dolgin, Esq.

Co-President

Since 1968, Kalmon Dolgin has played an integral role in the growth, expansion and scope of Kalmon Dolgin Affiliates (KDA) and its property management company, KND Management Co., Inc. The namesake, family-owned commercial brokerage and real estate firm was founded in 1904 by Kal’s paternal grandfather, an immigrant from Russia who opened a real estate brokerage business in the back of his small Brooklyn grocery store.

After earning his undergraduate degree from Syracuse University and a Juris Doctor degree at Syracuse University College of Law, Kal left his law career after his uncle Morris fell ill and, at dad’s request, he joined the family business in 1968. In the mid-1970s, Kal was joined by his brother Neil, whose area of expertise in refurbishing old buildings complimented Kal’s while adding its own individuality and strengths. Over many decades, Kal, Neil and the team have expanded KDA’s geographic reach across Long Island, Philadelphia, Albany, NY, Florida and across more than a dozen states.

Working alongside his brother Neil for 50 years, his son Josh for the past 30 years, his nephew Grant for the last 15 years, and a team of talented brokers and staff, this family real estate firm has accomplished something rare -- they have grown, thrived, contributed to the community, and remained together for four generations and counting, with future generations still to come.

Neil A. Dolgin

Neil A. Dolgin

Co-President

Though he briefly considered becoming a doctor, there was never really any doubt that joining his family’s real estate firm would ultimately be Neil Dolgin’s destiny. “The older generation directed you where to go,” says Neil, who along with his older brother Kalmon, currently serves as Co-President of Kalmon Dolgin Affiliates, Inc.

As a teenager during school breaks, Neil learned the real estate ropes doing various jobs at Kalmon Dolgin’s Williamsburg, Brooklyn offices, which still serve as its corporate headquarters. After graduating from high school in 1969, he enrolled at Denver University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting, marketing, and finance. This was followed by an MBA in urban development before officially joining Kalmon Dolgin in August 1975.

With more than 45 years of real estate experience and counting, Neil has brokered sales and leases throughout Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx, Staten Island, Nassau and Suffolk County on Long Island. He also manages property for the Dolgin family, as well as third-party owners.

Neil is well known throughout the industry for his market knowledge across all asset classes and market prices. In recognition for the transactions he’s been involved in, he has received numerous awards. Neil is also highly regarded as someone who is always thinking outside the box, both to satisfy his client and ensure that everyone involved gets a fair deal.

Josh M. Dolgin

Josh M. Dolgin

Vice President

As a child, Josh imagined someday he’d join his family’s 120-year-old commercial brokerage and real estate firm founded by his great grandfather. For the past 30 years Josh has been part of the family business and still draws on those early lessons from his father and grandfather. He started in brokerage at Kalmon Dolgin Affiliates (KDA) and currently serves as the company’s vice president, overseeing property and asset management for KND Management Co., Inc. In his role Josh has been instrumental in expanding the institutional property management division of the company and growing its market portfolio beyond the New York metro area. He brings a wealth of experience and key skills — from negotiating complex financing terms to thinking creatively — to every transaction.

After graduating from Syracuse University with a political science degree in 1994, he officially joined KDA’s Manhattan office and cut his teeth in brokerage, leasing and sales. While at KDA, Josh enrolled in New York University’s real estate graduate program, and earned his master’s degree in 1998. He then formed a real estate investment company with a childhood friend, focusing initially on loft buildings in Manhattan’s Meatpacking District. This led to the acquisition and development of the current site of the Gansevoort Hotel, in which he was an early investor. Ultimately he sold his interest in the deal and parted ways with partnership, but learned a wealth of valuable skills and knowledge from the experience. His next deal was a seven-story mixed-use office building at 50 Clinton Street in Hempstead Long Island, which he purchased and arranged financing for on behalf of the family and then rejoined Kalmon Dolgin Affiliates full time.

Grant Dolgin

Vice President

With over a decade of experience in real estate brokerage and financial services, Grant Dolgin joined Kalmon Dolgin Affiliates (KDA) near the end of 2007 during the financial crisis. He represents the fourth generation of the commercial brokerage and real estate firm first established by his great grandfather in 1904.

Along with his cousin Josh, Grant serves as vice president at Kalmon Dolgin Affiliates and its property and asset management company, KND Management Co., Inc. Coming from a career in the financial services industry, and also learning from his father Neil, Grant brings his own unique analytical and problem solving capabilities to every transaction.

Grant divides his time between serving brokerage clients and property management. On the brokerage side, Grant has represented sales and leasing transactions totaling more than 1 million sq. ft. throughout Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx and Long Island. He provides KDA clients with a wealth of knowledge and experience across a variety of diverse properties, from multi-storied commercial lofts, mixed-use buildings, medical office buildings, and retail shopping centers to vacant land.
