5 Policy Issues That Could Affect Commercial Real Estate In 2020

Beneath the noise of the White House race, policy debates will take place from the halls of Congress to local city councils that could have significant impacts on the commercial real estate industry. Local and national policymakers will continue to put forward potential solutions to the housing affordability crisis, and major economic policies like trade agreements could significantly impact commercial real estate.

Real Estate Roundtable CEO Jeff DeBoer and CBRE Americas Research Chairman Spencer Levy, who will both speak Dec. 18 at Bisnow’s Greater D.C. 2020 Forecast event, identified five major political issues that could shape commercial real estate next year:

  • Trade Agreements
  • Infrastructure
  • Rent Control
  • Housing Finance Reform
  • Terrorism Risk Insurance
